Retreat of the research training group, 20th of November

“Mathematical Modeling for the Quantitative Biosciences”

Main Speaker: Dr. Stan Marée, a theoretical biologist from the John Innes Centre (Norwich, GB)

On November 20th, the research training group (RTG) of the BioQuant is having a retreat, where every PhD student of the RTG will give a talk about their projects. As this is a very interdisciplinary RTG that centers around the challenge to understand biological systems quantitatively, the talks will look at biological systems from different perspectives.

Stan Marée, a theoretical biologist from the John Innes Centre (Norwich, GB), will give the opening lecture on coupling the Cellular Potts Model to reaction-diffusion systems. His approach allows him to view cell signalling as the outcome of the interplay between intracellular reaction-diffusion patterning, cell shape changes and external signals. We look forward to interesting discussions.
