Sommersemester 2024

Project Seminar "Biomedical Image Analysis"

Field:

  Biomedical Image Analysis, Machine Learning

Scope:

  4 SWS

Date:

  Tuesday, 15:00-18:00, weekly

Duration:

  16.4. – 23.7.2024

Place:

  INF 267 (BioQuant), SR44

Lecturer:

  PD Dr. Karl Rohr

Language:

  English

Content:

Students work in teams on selected advanced topics in biomedical image analysis. The focus is on on deep learning methods for automated analysis of biological microscopy images and medical images. Examples for topics are segmentation and tracking of cells in microscopy images, segmentation of organs or blood vessels, and registration of multimodal images of the human brain. The course consists of a seminar part (study relevant literature, learn theoretical foundations, oral presentation) and a project part (design and implementation of image analysis methods and algorithms, test and evaluation of implemented methods, specification and development of software, presentation of results, train communicative und social competences). Successful participation in the course can be a starting point for a Master thesis.

Course conduction and registration:

The course will be performed onsite. Interested students register for the course in Moodle before the first date (Fakultät für Ingenieurwissenschaften / Pharmazie und Molekulare Biotechnologie / Master: Projektseminar Biomedizinische Bildanalyse 2024). The key for registration in Moodle is 20240310. Information on the meetings will be announced under "Ankündigungen“ in Moodle.

Requirements: Basic knowledge in Image Analysis (Computer Vision) or Machine Learning (Pattern Recognition)
